"Harbin Summer Concert ", beginning in 1961, is a creation by industrious and ingenious people of Harbin. Up to now, it has been successfully held 33 times. In 1996, the 23th " Harbin Summer Concert " was co-sponsored by the Culture Bureau of P. R. China and Harbin for the first time. This indicates that the local concert has been promoted to national level. For example, The 28^th Harbin Summer Concert was held in Flood Control Monument Tower Square and 1001 performers gave the concert the largest scale piano performance in China.
